There are three idetification plates on the Puma, starting with the VIN code: the letters are all ficticious, but say the position of the code
ABC = Word Manufacture Identification
D = Model Variant
EF = constant
G = product source company
H = assembly plant (they were all made at Cologne anyway)
D = Model Variant
I = model range
J = year of manufacture
K= month of manufacture
12345 = vehicle sequence number

the model variant is only C and C for 3-door coupe. model range is only E for Puma

V = 1997
W = 1998
X = 1999
Y = 2000
1 = 2001

the month is a little more complicated as it is based on the yesr. so I'll try and do a table, month followed then by the letters for each year from 1996 through to 2002

the colour can be found out from the engine plate at the front of the engine bay as with the interior trim. The colour is second up from the boxes on the left hand side with interior trim the next box.
Interior trim:
DC = Chrome/Twil Medium Dark Grey
Ha = Alcontora Imperial
OL = Silverstone/Medium Opal
VJ = Chrome/Twil Alchemy
VM = Leather Alchemy
VS or VU or VW = Silverstone Alchemy
